About the Progressive Source Awards

For the second year the Progressive Source Awards will recognize those groups that have best used the Internet for online advocacy and awareness-building over the previous year. Our goal is to provide progressive advocacy groups and non-profits with an easily-accessed and inspiring repository of web marketing "best practices." (Click here to see the results of the 2007 Awards.)

In preparing the 2nd Annual Progressive Source Awards, our judges and staff have searched hundreds of progressive advocacy and nonprofit websites to find nominees. Added to these nominees are examples recommended by the public. Nominees are vetted to find those efforts that use the web to effectively spread their messages through provocative videos, outstanding homepages or microsites that motivate, educate and inspire.

There are five categories of achievement in the 2008 Progressive Source Awards: Best Homepage, Best Microsite, Awareness-Raising Video, Call-to-Action Video, and the newest, Fundraising Video.

The nominees that receive the most votes from the public will win the "Most Popular Award." Also, diverse and progressively distinguished panel of judges will choose a winner from each category.

Any member of the public with a valid email is allowed to vote for the Most Popular Awards (one for each category). The nominating process was also open to anyone. No registration fee is required for consideration for a Progressive Source Award.

Web videos that are nominated for Progressive Source Awards must be less than five minutes long and must have been uploaded to the web between the dates of May 1, 2007 and May 31, 2008. Videos and websites have to be currently and freely accessible over the Internet without registration.

The 2008 Progressive Source Awards will be open for nominations until June 10, 2008. Voting will continue until June 17. Winners of the "Most Popular" and Judges' awards will be posted on this website on June 25.
